Investigation of UFOs - Taylor K.
With this paper, I only used one source to find my information. Because this book was so helpful, I found a lot of solid information and it was really easy. This research project was probably my favorite because it is fun to think about the existence of UFOs.

Life on Other Planets~ Amanda D.
Researching for this project I found to be slightly hard, but not really all that bad. What I found very interesting is how communication between planets is a big problem. We could receive a message from a galaxy or planet in millions of years and it could of been sent today. The vastness of space is just so fascinating that is sometimes very hard to fathom.
Dark Matter and Dark Energy-Lian A.
Find information for the subjects of dark matter and dark energy was challenging. It was difficult because a lot of the websites were unclear about exactly what they are. Also, none of the sites seemed to agree on the percentage of matter and energy that is dark. I was unable to find information about the idea of dark matter and energy being used as an energy source. The most interesting fact that I discovered, was that a lot of the energy in the universe is dark.
Dark Matter vs. Dark Energy - Taylor K.
I thought this topic of research was very interesting. The facts that I found were fascinating and the one that suprised me -- or made me the most interested -- was that dark matter and dark energy, together, make up almost 95% of our Universe! This project was not extremely difficult to find information on, but because it is not a proven fact that these materials exist, some facts were not fully proven.
Was the First Moon Landing a Conspiracy?
Researching the first moon landing conspiracy idea was pretty easy. There were many good websites on it, and I liked seeing what people noticed about it. I thought it was interesting that they saw that the flag was waving and that there were no stars visible.

Conspiracy on the Moon - Karen Y
I found this research easier than the rest since you could just pick a side and then find all the information you needed. This time there were only two sides to pick from, so it wasn't as complicated. I found the fact that many people thought the footprints were just wet sand very interesting because it shows that not many people are willing to do their research.
Black Holes - Karen Y
I thought that this was a more difficult topic to research since we don't know for sure a lot of information about black holes. Once I decided that I wanted to narrow in on the singularites, it was easier to find information. I thought the most interesting fact was that there may be naked singularities out in the universe somewhere.

Black Holes -- Ryan Franda
A star is constantly in balance between atomic explosions pushing outward and gravity pushing inward. This makes the sun a large ball of fire, but it still keeps it from exploding or imploding. Black holes are formed after a star’s atomic power runs out. In other words, it runs out of gas. This disrupts the balance, and in a regular-sized star the gravity just makes the star compact, and turn into a white dwarf, and eventually, a black dwarf. In a star of unusual size, however, the gravity is suddenly released with nothing to fight against it. This causes it resort to a complete spasm – a supernova. This is a huge explosion that resounds through space, leaving in its path, a black hole.
Black holes have incredible gravity. They are not, however, like a vacuum cleaner. They act like any other body – a star of planet – of great gravity. However, when they are close to something, they pull it towards it and suck it into its center, because they have such large gravity. Why do they have so much gravity? As you near a black hole, and start to get pulled in, you become more and more at the mercy of the black hole. When you travel past a certain point, called the event horizen, you would have to travel past the speed of light to escape. Eventually you get pulled right into the center of the black hole. This is only a small point, with mass getting compressed to an extremely tight and hot ball, called the point of singularity. The matter here is so tight tight, some even say it is infinitly dense.
Actually, nobody knows what goes on at the center. It is true that some theorists suggest infinite density, but for that to happen, there would need to be a volume of zero and infinite gravity, and for a lot of people that is hard to comprehend. It is possible that there is simply extremely high gravity and density in the center. I think this is more likely, because with infinite density and gravity the gravitational pull would be so great that it would take in everything near it, and thus provide more fuel until it eats the universe itself. It is hard to find out exactly what is at the center, because they suck in light, but with special cameras that track different rays than light rays, we can learn more about what is there.

Dark Matter & Dark Energy ~Alex J.
Finding information on dark matter and energy was harder than the research I've done so far, because there weren't many good websites or explanations on what both are. Something I found interesting in my research was that the expansion of the universe has been accelerating rather than slowing, like most people believed.

Tanner S. Alternate Theories of the universe.
The words in the picture are hard to read so here they are again.
Around 13.7 Billion years ago there was not a cosmic explosion, the universe just began to expand. The universe started to “inflate”, it began to expand and cool. The universe is believed to have began as an infinitely small, and infinitely, and infinitely dense. It was a singularity. A singularity is thought to be at the core of a black hole. Where did it come from? We don’t know. Why did it appear? We don’t know. The universe to this day is still expanding. It is still constantly cooling and growing.
Scientists think of matter as being made of tiny particles that they are unobservable. Mathematical formulas say that particles are point-like and therefore have no shape. The general idea of the string theory is that this is wrong, and that these particles are instead shaped like tiny loops of string. String theory suggests that when these tiny loops move in different ways, they actually are a different type of matter. In other words, if the string theory loop moves in one direction it will act differently than if it moves in another direction.
The creation theory is a belief that the universe was created from a God that created all life and everything from a complete nothingness. Another version of this is theistic evolution and this is a belief that God placed creatures on this earth that he created and created evolution to evolve these creature into humans and other animals of today.

Black Holes ~ Amanda D.
Black holes I found to be very confusing. After awhile though all of the research started to click, and I began to understand it. They were very cool to learn about and how many people over exaggerate what they really are. A concept that I began to understand is the point of singularity, this point continues to expand because matter can never be destroyed, so when the matter is sucked in it isn't gone but, rather it is added to the point of singularity, and that point grows, as well as the gravitional pull of that area. A white hole is the exact opposite of a black hole. In fact scientist oare not sure that they even exist. If they did however, it is said that these are the oppopsite of black holes and instead of sucking in they push out, and that would mean that matter looks as if it is spewing out of the hole.

UFO Essay ~ Amanda D.
The research really wasn't that hard. You just had to find different sightings and research them. Most of it was very easy to understand. The only hard part was trying to decide whether or not I think UFO's really do exist. I think I am going to have to go on the side that UFO's do exist. I believe that God made the universe and that he could of created more people just than us in the owrld. So I think that UFO's really do exist, granted some of the sitings I think were probably fake, but who is to say that they weren't. With the government trying to hide so much I definelty feel that there is something out there.

Black holes are a complicated idea of the universe. Some things can be proved, yet many more cannot. While I was studying these, I learned many things that I did not know before that makes me think that black holes are much more complicated than people may think. When broken down to the basics, black holes may be easy to learn, but when there is more information about them and more in depth, it becomes more interesting than I could have thought.
The line of singularity is the line of no return basically. This is where everything is distorted and then from there we do not know where it goes. There are very little ways to study this and the more advanced ones we have no idea how to do. The line of singularity is why people can not see a black hole, photons which are the basic element of light block out everything, there is a "plate" of them sitting just beyond the black hole that once that is passed, there is no coming out.

Jennifer G. Black Holes Essay
While researching about black holes, I found lots of interesting facts, but the thing I found most interesting was the 2012 Black Hole Theory. I had never heard of this before, and I was amazed with the endings people predicted for the end of the world. It wasn't that difficult to find information for most of this essay, but finding an easy to understand definition of the line of singularity was hard.

It was interesting to learn about black holes. For example, I learned that they are actually an old star that collapsed into itself. The gravitational pull is so strong from that that light can't even escape! I really liked learning about black holes.

All in All this project was fun but my favorite was when I got to research alternet theories of the universe.
Alternate Universe Theories- Brad Nagel
The most interesting part about this project was learning how many weird theories there are. Some of them don't make any sense, which is why I didn't include those ones. While making my project I enjoyed hearing about a lot of scientists different opinions. Theories of the universe are very interesting.

Black Holes- Angela A.
- An infinitely coil of points of no end of curving
- Is a point at which gravity dominates all other forces and rips it apart
- It does not take up any space
- We don't have the technology to explore what is beyond the line of singularity and the black hole
- The line of singularity is at the middle of the black hole
I found out that this project was very easy to find information about black holes. One thing though it was hard to find out about the line of singularity. Overall this was one of the easiest topics to find information on.

Black Holes: Taylor K
When I researched black holes, I found a lot of facts interesting. The fact that there is something in space with the power to suck in anything, including light, is fascinating to me. I found that this project was less difficult than the "alternate theories" project because the information was easier to understand.
Greg G. Moon Landing Hoax
I really liked researching about the moon landings because it was interesting to learn about the possibility that the government faked it. It wasn't too difficult to find information on this topic, because many people have very strong opinions about the moon landings, and there are many conspiracy websites out there.

Shawn's Alternate theory presentation
The Big Bang was easy to find, but the Creationism was more often skewed opinion rather than their actual beliefs, or a description of the scientific theory. Always has been is very self-explanitory, so it wasn't hard to find a site with some proof for the theory. The most interesting part of the research was how everyone tried to prove their theory. I.E. When pro- Big Bang people say that if the universe is expanding, it must have contracted into a point of origin, the Creationists say something like that is where God created the universe, etc. People get really gly when they start to fight about what others should believe.
PS yes I am using a fake name at my parent's request, for those of you who hadn't figured out yet
Life on Other Planets - Karen Y.
I thought that this research was a little bit harder than the alternate theories since there were so many different opinions on whether or not there could be life on different planets. I found it fascinating that life might be able to exist on some of Jupiter's moons if the habitable zone was able to stretch that far.

I found this project very interesting because I have never heard of dark matter or dark energy. This project allowed me to research and find out more information about both dark energy and matter. I found it kind of hard to understand and find an easy deffinition of dark energy but I think that I have a general understanding of the concept. This project wasn't my favorite so far but I learned a lot of good information while creating it and it was still kind of fun.
Theories Of The Universe - John H.
Researching the theories was a little more challenging than I had anticipated due to the fact that there wasn't as much information that I thought there would be on some theories. The easiest part was probably finding pictures to go with The Big Bang Theory.

Black Holes
There was a lot of information on black holes out there, and I chose some of the things that were less spoken of, and found out more than just what they are. It was hard for me to find information on the line of singulartiy, though.

While researching, I discovered that there is more than just one type of black hole. I also learned that black holes are extremely dense. Finding information for this topic was easy, because there is loads of webpages and books about black holes.

Bailey Z. Theories of the Universe
It was easy to find facts about the Big Bang Theory, but as for the other theories of the universe, it became much more difficult. I found many interesting facts about the two theories, but probably the most interesting part was how fast the universe broke apart, yet how slow it took to get to where it is today.

I see learning new things about the universe fun so I likes learning this. Dark matter and dark energy is a very simple idea but it could be the key to our universe and other universes and if we could harness dark energy, our ideas could come to life and our imagination could go wild. We could do virtually anything.

This project was still fun for me but it wasn't my favorite project. I think that SETI is very cool, you can download a program from SETI that runs on you computer and slowly runs through a part of SETI's data. You don't even know it's running but your helping to find aliens! I had never heard of METI so it was nice to find out some information about them, wouldn't it be cool if we actually were able to talk with an alien? I found it more boring to research the search for non-intelegint life forms. All in all I learned a lot from this project!

Jennifer, Alex, and Allie - Theories of the Universe
Amanda D. - Theories of the Universe
Well, during my research I came across some very interesting theories. Most of them sounded very unrealistic and that people are just trying to find someway to convince themselves that the Biblical Creationist Theory isn't real. In my beliefs I believe this thoery. I found that all of the different theories out their were just very very interesting. it even reassures what I believe in. Research for this project I found to be very hard, their were a lot of formulas and large words that I didn't know. Getting past that obstace was very challenging.

Ben T. - Theories of the Universe
Most interesting- That in the bubble theory there are thousands upon thousands of bubbles that contain universes.
Research- Most of the information was very complicated to locate.
Bubble- Explains how the multiple parallel universes explained in the multiverse theory exist and interact with each other.
• States that each universe is an large membranous bubble, among an infinite number of other bubbles, rippling through the eleventh dimension. This fits well with the established idea of cosmic inflation.
• Some quantum physicists believe that a few of these bubbles actually exist less than a millimeter away from ours, but in another dimension. According to this we are rubbing shoulders with infinite versions of ourselves in parallel worlds.
• One major supporting factor is that gravity should be much stronger than it is. Therefore, it is thought to be leaking into our universe from all these other crazy dimensions.
Relativity
• Explains that time is dependent on space because even though two people may be watching the same thing the one that is farther away will be noticing it at a different time even though the occurrence happened at a certain time.
• First three are space and the fourth is spacetime which is a dimension where time and space are inextricably linked. Meaning that their link is incredibly complex and is impossible to undo.
Big Bang
• To start their was a tremendous explosion and at the time of explosion all matter and energy was contained at one point. However no one knows what existed prior to this event
• This was not a typical explosion, the Big bang was an explosion of space within itself
• It filled all of space with all the particles of the embryonic universe going away from each other
• Unlike explosion of a bomb the fragments were thrown outward
• Also the galaxies were very spread out and not close together at all.
• This laid out foundations for the universe
• Origin theory came from Edwin Hubble who-
-Discovered that a galaxies velocity is proportional to its distance
- Observations gave a foundation for big bang theory
String theory-
• The theory itself is very simple
• States that everything in the world is created out of tiny strings instead of many types of elementary type particles
• The theory is still under development due to the lack of technology at the time that we need to look at things close enough to see if everything is truly made of strings.
• For that reason there are many string theories defined by the symmetry of the strings and requirements of what they are, closed loops or open loops as well as many combinations of the two.
• Sometimes this theory is referred to as the theory of everything due to it affecting everything in the universe.
• Also it is thought to as being the best candidate for a unified theory meaning that it ties everything together to form a single theory.
M-Theory
• The m-theory is very similar to the string theory as it is just an extension to it.
• Technology has progressed allowing scientists to create this extension to the string theory.
• This allows them to put all the many string theories together into one.
• The m-theory lives in 11 dimensions. However it looks ten dimensional in some points of space.
• Such a theory could use an object such as membranes and when we curl the 11th dimension into a small circle the membranes would look like strings.
- We have made a lot of advancements but the mystery of the universe is still unsolved

Some information I found interesting was how someone could just make up a theory to get themselves a name. Maybe it is just me, but I have no idea how the String Theory works. I understand some of the concepts, but the big picture is still a blur. Some of the theories I looked up were within my grasp, but some of the information I looked up was a little confusing. Overall, this research project helped me learn a lot of new information.
