Shawn's UFOs

The most interesting part of this research was again, the extremists who actually think the aliens will kill us all any minute. This research was again not very hard all around, with easily understood stories of the two mentioned incidents.

Shawn's Black Holes

The most interesting part about this research was for sure how a wormhole could be created via two white holes, and this research was easy except for finding other theories about what's at the bottom of a black hole besides a singularity.

Shawn's Dark matter and energy

This project was not easy in the department of finding how to harness dark energy for power, but the rest was easy enough. The concept of Dark Matter is still kinda hard to grasp, though. Inobservable...pretty strange.

Shawn's Life on other Planets Essay

Life on other planets has always been a touchy topic, with much controversy surrounding the ideas of those who believe and much criticism surrounding those who don't. The vast likelihood seems, however, that life on other planets is both possible and probable, although chances of seeing or contacting them are minuscule to none.
Believers often attempt to use the near infinite size of the cosmos to say that this somehow makes it near impossible to not have other life in the universe. Some, however, debate about life's possibility much closer to Earth: Mars. Mars has some considerable evidence of the ability to support life, with the discovery of water on Mars in a shallow trench named”Dodo-Goldilocks”, not to mention the meteorite ALH84001 which came from Mars and was thought, and still possibly could, contain a biosignature from bacteria 100 times smaller than any terrestrial bacteria from Earth. Life in the universe is definitely possible.
Skeptics, however, say the processes that created the fossil-like markings on the meteorite could have very easily been inorganic, as they could have accumulated during the 11000 years it sat on earth before discovery, as well as the fact that the temperature on Mars may not have been suitable for bacteria to grow.
Personally, I believe that, somewhere out in the billions of galaxies, there must be other life. Even though I myself am skeptical of intelligent life, I do believe that there must be some bacteria floating around on other planets, possibly even in our own solar system. Maybe even Mars has secrets waiting to be uncovered, just below the surface of the untouched, undisturbed rock.

I found it strikingly similar to the UFO research I did in the sense that there tend to be a lot of extremists who think aliens will destroy the world any minute now. The research was not very hard overall, despite the lack of results, the results I could find I had no trouble interpreting.

Farhenheit 451- Science Fiction Novel: Brad Nagel

This was probably the easiest topic for me. I really enjoyed it because it is crazy how the author can predict things so accurately. This project took a long time because I had to read the book, but I think it was worth it. Fahrenheit 451 is a great novel for anybody to read.

UFO's- Brad Nagel

UFO's were pretty easy to research. There was a lot of information on reported sightings which was interesting to read. My favorite part was looking at the UFO fun facts. Some of those were very funny.

Brad Nagel- Life On Other Planets

Researching life on other planets was fairly interesting and easy. Some of the information was a little hard to find, but when I found a good website I was shocked at some of the cool things that may have occured with life in our universe. This topic was one of my favorites to research.

Brad Nagel- Moon Landing Hoax

I found it easy and interesting to research this topic. This was probably my favorite topic that we could research because it is the most debatable out of all of them. The moon landing hoax had information all over, so the information was extremly easy to find.

Jacob-Life off Earth

I found a lot of sites that had some great info, and thought that the idea of a moon that is icy on the surface could be hot in the core is pretty interesting.

Researching this was kind of difficult. Nobody really knows that much about them, so a lot of the information was kind of sketchy. The most interesting thing I learned was that dark matter and dark energy make up such a big part of our universe. We know so much less about our universe than I thought we did.

Black Holes---Bailey Z.

This was an easy project once I found the information. Finding books that had good visual images and information was hard to find. There was many interesting things that I did not know about black holes. One was that the center of a black hole was singularity.

Life On Mars---Bailey Z.

Most of finding the information was easy, but finding the interiviews was much harder. Finding valid interivews was hard because there was a lot of wierd interviews and people. The most interesting part of the presentation was finding some of the cool pictures and hearing the real life UFO stories.

I got most of my information from interviews. They interviews were hard to find. I though it was interesting that there are a billion "Earth like" planets in our galaxy.

Life on Other Planets~ Jennifer G.

I thought this research was pretty easy to find, but it wasn't as easy as some of the other information. I found it interesting that Venus could have, at one point, had living creatures or plants. I thought this was an interesting project, and it leaves me thinking about other planets.

By the way, these are my other sources from the all the projects:

Below is my presentation on UFOs, black holes, dark matter, and life on other planets. All the subjects were pretty easy to research. The only problem I had was trying to find pictures to go with the PowerPoint. Also I would like to point out the people at Slideshare changed some of my background through the process of uploading.

Life On Other Planets

On this project I tended to find less information on certain subjects. And after I completed my research I found to evidence that would sugest that life is sustainable on other planets.

Moon Landing Conspiercy

Everything I found came rather easily and all the facts where quite interesting in the fact that there are that many open ends.

Black Holes

I found researching this topic somewhat difficult to research. Also the majority od what I learned was very interesting.

Dark Matter & Dark Energy

This project was fairly easy in the researching aspect; the information I found was fairly interesting.

The Moon Hoax~ Jennifer G.

This was a pretty easy topic to find information on, but now I'm beginning to wonder if the moon landing really happened. I found it interesting how many people thought it was fake, because I never thought about that until researching all these things.

I thought this project was fascinating. The information wasn't too difficult to gather once I found some good websites. Out of the projects we did, this was one of my favorites to do because it is really interesting and leaves you wanting to know more about it.

Allie H: Moon Conspiracy

I found that this research was very easy to gather and understand; I had no difficulties with this project. Something that I found interesting was that I had no idea that there were so many doubts and stories that people tell to make the landing seem fake, and how other people proved all of those stories wrong with scientific facts.

I took a lot of interest in life on other planets. There are so many things to think about and learn that people overpass whe they research this. Though life on other planets may never be discovered, the people who get up and try are the real heros. There are many interesting thing about how the universe works along with this, but I did not write about them for it was about life on other planets.

Moon Landing Hoax

This project was fairly easy to research. One good thing about it was that because it is a "conspiracy," I easily found 2 primary sources. I found two interviews; one from Buzz Aldrin and the other from a man named Bill Kaysing. Kaysing was one of the first men to doubt the landing of the moon. This topic was interesting, but my favorite still remains UFOs!

What was interesting about his research is the evidence to prove that the landing was a myth was quite interesting. I also found out how to prove that evidence wrong. A new fact that I learned was that lunar means moon, and when the rocket takes off from the landing module, it has an invisible flame.

Life on Other Planets~Angela A.

I think this was an interesting topic to research. What I liked about it was that it was very easy to find the information. I also learned that Mars has water on the planet and I thought that the only planet with water on it was Earth.

Wormholes-Jacob Stern

Wormholes, also known as Einstein-Rosen Bridges or white holes, are spacial zones of which some of the least is known. It is a fissure in the fabric of time and space. It could be made by two colliding black holes, providing a rift in the material of space to travel great distances without the restriction of time. If harnessed as a source for space travel, the possibilities and horizons would no longer be limited by time. According to Albert Einstein’s theory of relativity, any mass can affect the scope of time and even light.
~
The idea of a wormhole was first proposed by Albert Einstein working together with Nathan Rosen. It is considered a solution of his theory of general relativity. It could be found at the center of a galaxy, as a black hole is thought to, and attract objects in a similar way, having similar characteristics, and therefore being completely indistinguishable from it.
~
The main issue with this concept for space travel is what is at its center. It would appear that something would be compressed to infinite density as passing through the middle. when viewed in any illustration. The question is whether it could be reassembled in its full form after passing through the wormhole, and be able to function still properly.
~
Another crucial matter is the question of whether you could pass back through the wormhole. Would they be stable enough to support two-way travel? Or would they collapse at the second it recognized your molecular structure? To keep it open it is hypothesized that there would have to have negative energy and pressure, making a substance called exotic matter. Whether or not it exists is debatable.
~
Another question of wormholes is if it would really just take you to another time and place within your dimension. Would you actually be able to reach it if you really wanted too and had lots, and lots, and lots of time? What if it took you to another dimension where you instantly died? Well, if this was the case it could still be beneficial to humans’ industry. If there was some way to transport matter or energy back from another dimension, the potential for new drugs, medicines, compounds – in fact, almost everything – could be expanded and utilized to far greater extent.

I found that not much was known about wormholes but that if more could be found about them they could become very real ways of space travel.

Dark Matter and Dark Energy

I thought it was a litle bit difficult to find information on this topic because all of the sources I went to said that nobody is sure if dark matter and dark energy even exists. Considering that this information is still in the experimental stage, it made this a little bit of a challenge. The information I found was really interesting, though.

Dark Matter and Energy

In theory, dark matter is undetectable matter, but something is surely there because it gives off electromagnetic radiation not visible on the known electromagnetic spectrum. It can be also found by its gravitational field, which accounts for otherwise unaccountable forces. The idea of dark matter was first postulated by Fritz Zwicky. Supposedly it is matter that can give off energy but has no other detectable form, and is therefore very hard to distinguish from dark energy. It makes up 25% of the universe, and in theory 70% is dark energy. The other 5% is normal matter.

Dark matter also appears not to interact with other matter via electromagnetic forces, so it is further difficult to find. Instruments that have no issues locating and tracing other matter have trouble finding it because it lacks the radiation measurable by our electromagnetic spectrum. It could be that it is has form of radiation much beyond either side of the spectrum or completely radiation neutral, which is nearly impossible.

Brown Dwarfs are the smallest regular stars – about 75-80 Jupiter masses. They are different from regular stars in that they have much less stable fusion reactions, but most experience at times lithium fusion, the main idea behind nuclear fusion power produced on earth artificially. Anyways, they are non-luminous, so they could be concealing dark matter within themselves.
The matter might also be made up of neutrinos, particles fundamental to elements previously thought to have no mass. But an electron neutrino would only have 1/100,000 of the mass of an electron, so they wouldn’t be able to account for the all the vast amount of empty space in the universe.

Dark energy can be described as very similar to dark matter but at the same very different. It may be just a field or fluid in the universe, repelling some objects and attracting others. It may be a property of a vacuum, a power seemingly coming from nowhere, because the space wants to be filled. Another possibility is that Einstein’s theory of gravity is incorrect. It explains why the planets in the Solar System orbits our sun, and why stars form into galaxies, but not why the universe is constantly expanding.

The implications if we could harness dark energy are endless, because if it is what makes the universe constantly expand, it must have extreme power, and we could use it for extremely rapid propulsion across the horizon of space, making the possibilities for space travel and colonization infinite. (that is, if our universe is infinite)

Dark matter and dark energy have great potential for power, if we could find the way to harness them. This website has a bunch of good info, if you read down the page: http://news.discovery.com/space/interstellar-warpship-richard-obousy.html

The information was pretty easy to find, but it was difficult to find what the universe was made of, because every site had different answers. I found it interesting that even though dark matter can only be detected inderectly, scientists still know that it's there.

Dark Matter and Dark Energy~Angela A.

I found a lot of interesting facts about dark matter and dark energy. Although, I found that it was hard to find good information on them. The most interesting fact that I learned researching was that it takes up most of space. There is not just nothing space, but dark matter and dark energy fill the "empty space"

Finding information on UFO's wasn't very difficult. There are a lot of people out there who believe in UFO's, and as a result, their are a lot of websites on them. I could also find out a lot about Area 51, because there are a lot of people out there who are curious about it, and they want to know what's inside it. One thing that I found surprising was that if you type Area 51 into a google earth, it will take you to a satellite image of it.

Area 51 is what we all think of to be an alien testing facility and they have no idea what they are talking about. Area 51 is a miltary base that tests different types of technology and aircrafts, what types of technology is unknown. Whether or not we know what is in it, it most likely will not effect our lifetime, so nobody should worry about it. They are making sure we don't know for a good reason. The history of UFO's are in their hands so that other poeple can get more important work done.

Ben T. Moon Landing Hoax

The research was really simple because there is a ton of information out there on this subject.
The most interesting thing I found was that the skeptics have so many things that they have found to try and prove that the Americans faked the whole thing.

Ben T. Dark Matter and Energy

The research was fairly easy due to this being a pretty simmple topic since noone really knows what it is.
The thing I found the most interesting was that what we know of in the universe is only a tiny part of the universe.

Investigation of UFOs - Taylor K.

With this paper, I only used one source to find my information. Because this book was so helpful, I found a lot of solid information and it was really easy. This research project was probably my favorite because it is fun to think about the existence of UFOs.

Life on Other Planets~ Amanda D.

Researching for this project I found to be slightly hard, but not really all that bad. What I found very interesting is how communication between planets is a big problem. We could receive a message from a galaxy or planet in millions of years and it could of been sent today. The vastness of space is just so fascinating that is sometimes very hard to fathom.

Dark Matter and Dark Energy-Lian A.

Find information for the subjects of dark matter and dark energy was challenging. It was difficult because a lot of the websites were unclear about exactly what they are. Also, none of the sites seemed to agree on the percentage of matter and energy that is dark. I was unable to find information about the idea of dark matter and energy being used as an energy source. The most interesting fact that I discovered, was that a lot of the energy in the universe is dark.

Dark Matter vs. Dark Energy - Taylor K.

I thought this topic of research was very interesting. The facts that I found were fascinating and the one that suprised me -- or made me the most interested -- was that dark matter and dark energy, together, make up almost 95% of our Universe! This project was not extremely difficult to find information on, but because it is not a proven fact that these materials exist, some facts were not fully proven.

Was the First Moon Landing a Conspiracy?

Researching the first moon landing conspiracy idea was pretty easy. There were many good websites on it, and I liked seeing what people noticed about it. I thought it was interesting that they saw that the flag was waving and that there were no stars visible.
